Prevent your facebook account from possibly being hacked or hacked again! Help make your Facebook account more secure!
How? Here are 5 simple things you can do, to make it more secure and harder to hack!
1. CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD OFTEN!!!!
At least once a month!!!! DON’T use pets names, family members names, birth dates, anniversary dates, or things of that nature. Don’t use or spell out a word at all! Try using a combination of symbols, numbers and capital letters, and mix them up!
2. Turn on Login Alerts!
From your desktop or laptop, click on the little dark down arrow located in the facebook bar, in the top right near the right corner. Go to “Settings” in the list. Click on “Security” in the menu to the left on the page that opens. It’s the second one in the list under “General”. Click on Login Alerts. Choose how you want to be notified. By facebook notifications, email, or add a mobile #. Save Changes!
3. Set Login Approvals!
Check the box that says “Require a security code to access my account from unknown browsers” then choose add your #. If you don’t want to use your personal number, there are several services that offer phone numbers for messages and txt like google voice. But make sure you make that secure too! Save Changes!
4. Remove Unknown Device Access and Browsers.
Click on “Your Browsers and Apps” and remove access to any devices or browsers that don’t look right. Save Changes!
5. Don’t Comment on Public Posts with Personal Information!!!
Some hackers use data mining posts to get you to cough up personal info, that you might not be aware, that you are giving up! For example, there is one post floating around where it asks for who your best friends was when you were 14! Some people will use a best friends name as a password. Another one asks about favorite pets names, or something to that effect. That is what a lot of data mining posts looks like. Sounds harmless! Sometimes it’s so obvious, you will miss it!
